STREX Wins 2019 Innovation Award at IBEX International Boat Builders Expo

The IBEX Innovation Awards showcase outstanding marine product development to the recreational boating industry and beyond. The program, managed by NMMA and judged by BWI, is one of the marine industry’s most prestigious honors recognizing manufacturers and suppliers who bring new, innovative products to market. 

“IBEX has been rewarding ingenuity and honoring excellence with the Innovation Awards since 2003,” said Anne Dunbar, IBEX show director. “The program has evolved into one of the marine industry’s most prestigious honors. The gorgeous crystal awards are displayed proudly by hundreds of marine manufacturers that we have recognized over the years for bringing new, innovative products to market.” 

For STREX co-founders Brynn and Antoine McLeod, this IBEX Innovation Award signifies all the hard work that went into developing their product.  

STREX Fasteners came out with its boat-cover snaps in early 2019, and the International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition and Conference in October was the company’s first trade show. When STREX received an Innovation Award in the covering category, it was a huge deal for the upstart enterprise.

“Especially coming from IBEX, which everyone in the marine industry knows and respects, it was incredibly important, and it gave us a lot of recognition right out of the gate,” says company co-founder Antoine Mcleod.

"We're excited about being able to share our product with boaters all around the world," says co-founder Brynn McLeod. "We recognized a problem that many boaters all over were experiencing and we just really wanted to make the process of covering a boat easier and faster, it's as simple as that."
